Wine Shop
I took a job at a wine shop and worked my first day Monday. The shop caters to tourists but carries high end Malbecs including Dona Paula and CARO. Most shop jobs pay nothing. I had to laugh in 4 hours I made roughly 8 USD. I plan to work once or twice a week to familiarize myself with Argentine wine. I spent my first day familiarizing myself with the wine list.
The shop is near Plaza San Martin and the main port. Crusie ships bring in the majority of business. It feels a little wrong to guess who speaks english and doesnt. A large ship from Brazil swam through on my first day. I met alot of people proved I dont speak Portugese.
This month may be part time. For one the 40 hour work week doesn’t exist in Argentina. However in the English teacher market many potential students have gone on holiday to the beach. It seems strange to be poor and have steak on my plate.

I can’t believe that they pay that little, even in the states they pay at least 8/hour! good luck to you!
Thanks! i guess its all realitive. that 8 dollars was enough to buy a decent bottle of wine and groceries for 2-3 days.
It would be like working a minimal wage job in the states. Teaching English would be better paying and less hours. 35 pesos an hour, opposed to 7 in the wine shop.
And I get to try some killer Malbec. No complaints here!
Ciao
